Greetings from Guatemala

It's hard to believe we are half way through our time in Guatemala.  The team has been Fantastic!  They have been working incredibly hard.  By Saturday, 14 of our 16 houses were under construction, some near completion.  They have been so loving to all of the children around them.  The kids run into their arms when they arrive in the village!  Each team has gotten to know a little bit of the story of the families they are serving.  It is truly humbling to recognize what few resources and great hardships most of the Guatemalans have that we meet.

Sunday we took a break and went to Lake Atitlan where we went zip lining.  It lived up to its Ultra Extreme name!  The team wandered around the shops of Panajachel and enjoyed the scenery of the volcano lined lake.

Today, the team is putting fronts on houses where the concrete floors are dry.  Our two final houses will begin construction, and lots of coloring, balloon blowing, fingernail painting and soccer will happen in the streets!

Thank you for your prayers.  Continue to pray for the safety of the team, as we work and as we travel within Guatemala.  Pray for good health and physical strength.  The altitude is high, the conditions are hot and the work is hard, but you will be hard pressed to hear a single complaint from this group.

Tomorrow we will dedicate the houses, praying that God will make them a home where he is the source of strength, hope and love.

Grace,
Jayne

As We Prepare to Depart

Tomorrow morning at 5am, 38 FBC folks will head back to Chimaltenango, Guatemala to join our mission partners at Grace Ministries.  Our team will build 16 houses on this trip, engage the local children in vacation Bible school type crafts and stories, play LOTS of soccer and distribute food staples to over 100 families.

Please pray for the team as we travel, for the family members that remain at home, for the people we will encounter in Guatemala - that God will provide each of us with what we need in the week ahead.

We will do our best to post pictures and stories throughout the week, as internet service is available.

Grace,
Jayne
