The view from the front of the mission house. The clouds are sitting atop a twin peak volcano which is inactive and 'Fuego' an active volcano. We should see an eruption during our stay, our host Paul told us today.

A Post From Gary Harris:
So I looked at Mary and said,"Has it already been a year?
We arrived in Guatemala today. The flights were fine and everyone made it okay. This is the second year in a row we have come to this area for the mission trip. Mary Dyar, Wes Davis, Christian Davis, Twig Rollins, Jeff Troutman, and myself are the returnees on this year's trip from last year. Usually mission trips are "one and done", so it's cool to be coming back for this one, to do the same things we did last year.
One of the things that makes it easy to come back is the mission house itself. I think the first-timers thought we were lying to them about how nice where we would be staying was, like we were going to get here and take 'em to a campground and yell "GOTCHA!" They were all pretty blown away, even after we'd told them how sweet it was.
Speaking of which, it don't seem right somebody can come on their first mission trip and stay somewhere this nice. Me and Jeff Tanner had to sleep in a 3-walled shed on a concrete floor in someones overgrown backyard on the first Mexico Trip. You gotta pay your dues, man.
We went down into town tonight to eat supper and exchange some money.
Currency exchanges always cause people to freak out and start doing crazy math formulas. I just find out how much a Coke costs in their money and then use that as my basis for everything else to see if it makes sense. Works for me.
I better go. Jayne needs to download more pictures before she goes to bed and it's late. Everybody else in my room is already asleep.
Pray for us. Safety, the work site, the people we show God's love to....all those things could benefit from your prayers.Thanks.
And to be honest with you, don't take my whining about the conditions on the Mexico trip too seriously. I speak for Jeff and myself when I say.........

Just wanted to say "Thank you" for sharing your trip with us. The pictures are awesome!
We will keep all of you in our prayers throughout the week.
Glad to see that things are off to a great start. I hope I can experience one of these Guatemala trips one day. And Gary, I agree that first-timers these days have it made, even though I wasn't on that concrete floor on that first Mexico trip! I had other issues though!! We'll continue to pray for you guys.
I am praying for you all, I know you are a blessing and being blessed! Thank you for all you are doing! It definitely brings back last year's memories!
