We have arrived!

We arrived safely in Guatemala early this afternoon.  Three of us almost didn't make it out of Myrtle Beach.  It's just a bad feeling when they are calling your name over the airport pa system - Final boarding call for ...  Especially when it's the third time.  Even the TSA guy is looking at you with that, you're not going to make it look.  Others on the team will tell this story differently but... In fairness to me, Ron and Teresa, it wasn't our fault.  We were at the check in desk before half of the people on the plane.  Our line was just particularly thorough....  The rest of the team had been on the plane for quite some time as they were annoucing their readiness for departure.  some on the team were yelling for them to wait for us, others were urging them to lock the door...  i won't rest until all guilty parties are identified... wes.

We are grateful for the myrtle beach police officer who took pity on us and went upstairs to encourage them to keep the door open.  The team cheered as we entered the plane.  The other 200 people on the plane did not seem nearly as happy.

I was hoping this was not an omen for what our experience going through customs in Guatemala City would be like.

Jeff, tell Parker that I believe God used his stuffed animals for the chidlren to get us through customs smoothly.  All of our meds were with the stuffed animals.  The agent kept smiling at the stuffed animals.  He pulled out all the bags of meds and put them right back in again.  Zipped up the bag and told us to have a good day.

They also pulled a suitcase of soccer balls but then chose to let it go through.  God is good.  All bags came through.

Now Teresa could do her happy dance...

We went on to the next phase of our authentic Guatemala experience - the fried chicken combo at Costco in Guatemala City.  It was delicious!  Of course we were exhausted and starving but it was great.  It's actually a pricesmart, but if you didn't see the logo on the wall you would swear you were in Costco.  Twig went shopping - three grocery carts full.  Mucho nachos.

The deep potholes on the dirt road leading to the mission house sweetly reminded us that we were home... and it felt good.  Keep us in your prayers!

Glad you got there safe. I thought of the team all day yesterday and wondering about your "whereabouts" as the day went along.

Hope your work goes smooth.

Tell all the mission folks hello.

I'll tell Parker and his scouts the story.

Don't eat the street corn!

Thanks a bunch,
Jeff

Eat the street corn!

Ice cream is the best treat, though.

Tell John, Louisa, Max and Samuel I said HOLA!

Has Wes gotten a fever yet?

Praying daily for y'all. Wish I was there.

Glad all of you arrived safely and everything passed through customs OK. I told Wes his plan to leave you in MB would not work. I know the team slept well last night after a long day of travel. Sleeping with the windows open and waking to the sweet sound of birds singing from the trees was a delight for me. I pray you had the same experience. It is a small piece of heaven. I thought of the team often yesterday and prayed without ceasing that all would go well. My emphasis moves now to praying you will have a great week working among the people. Please tell my friends Max, Samuel, John, Paul & Louisa I send my greetings. Saw where the weather could get interesting down there this week. I pray God will do a great work in you and through you. I'll stay in touch through the blog daily.
Blessings!
